I attended the group yesterday, i was very late arriving it started at 6.30 i unfortunately did not arrive until way after 7pm. Naughty girl me!

I Was surprised at the amount of people who attended, the hall was full to bursting, as i arrived late, i took the only available seat, this was front row, unknown to me this was the seat of the speaker, Jacquline, from NARAS she was nice about it, on checking out the row, i realised all at the front were the speakers for the evening, ( boy was i worried ) that they would ask me up ,this could have been payment for arriving late,.

I wish i had arrived on time maybe i would have got to know, some attendees, But the good news is that as the evening was so successful, there will be more.

I dont know what i was expecting but it was good to see all the Rheumy team, they had all given there time for free, the food looked good i had already eaten but had a nice hot coffee as it was cold outside.

I dont know if Lynne c or Sheena were there, i think they will remember me as the one with the sketchers as the podiatrists ,Hardeep mentioned.

It was a good evening and which ran well past the finish time of 8.30. i must admit i am not used to being out after 9pm,(not that i turn into anything scary, i am just to tired its bed time for me) so it was strange all round, daughter picked me up by car wearing her pjs.

Must go!

hi Anne,

yes i went to our first NRAS meeting last month after being encouraged to by the Forum.

i found it very informative and and i too was impressed that the whole RA Team turned out,

found out a lot about how the Hospital runs and that they have a weekly flare clinic if needed and that how lucky we were in our part of the Country compared to other area's where they don't even have a Rheumatology Department in some area's.

was also told very clearly how they prescibe the Drugs, mine work up from Methotrexate whereas other parts of the Country start on the Triple Therapy. so it stopped any doubt in my mind that i was being given the right treatment and not to compare as i was assured i would get under control. ( still not there yet )

we are hoping to have Group meetings ... glad you are going to be having more meetings.

RollEyes Hello Suzanne, Yes its great to see these meetings taking off in so many new areas.

I wish i could have helped with setting things up, but i am finding it hard enough to keep house and part time work, so i will have to leave it to others.

I am om mtx, i do hope it works well for you and that your R.A is under control soon.

Its lovely to read your experiences with the groups... especially as we're launching one in Leicester next February...

Even though I was diagnosed when I was very young, a lot of the information I found out through charities like NRAS / ARC / Arthritis Care. Meeting other people with RA helped me feel that I wasn't alone and I've learnt a lot over the years...

Now that I've learnt stuff and have made various contacts over the years, I want that to be available to other people so the groups are a perfect way of ensuring it happens.

Looking forward to our launch Smile

Hi Helly, I hope things go well in Feb, its so nice to be with others with diffrent probs which are all R.A related, as the understanding is so much greater, at the same time it was a shock for me to see so many with R.A in the flesh,so to speak, as apart from this than this site, i dont know anyone with this horrible disease.

Sorry Lynne, just noticed your post, i am back at work now after 11mts off, it good to be back, this is the end of my phased rtn to work.

Next week is back to normal, although its part time i do feel so tired at the end of the morning.

Lynne i will let you know when L/D meeting is on, I think they were just getting togeather to sort out a date? they were looking for volunteers, but as i am just about coping with work i declined.
I am in the process of applying for a blue badge as my mobility's not as good as i would have expected after the opp, the surgeon said i would need ankle replacement in the future, i am pleased to say that the pain,s not as bad but, but i walk at a snails pace at times. lol lol family forget me sometimes, i end up shouting from afar "hay wait for me."

How are you doing? write soon. better go, need mug shots for badge application.

Hi Lynne,
I tried for ill health retirement but was told that i would not get it as the rheumy consultant encourages you to stay at work as he feels people go down hill on retirement, i think that is a load off rubbish, maybe he scores brownie points for keeping us at work. lol lol

Occy health gp, said much the same, so as you say plodding on its ok when you feel fairly good but seems so unfair like no one is on your side when you feel rough. after 24yrs in the same job i would expect more.

I hope you get some results from your visit tomorrow,
A new Grandson how lovley. Off to make a cuppa, talk soon.
